Are you considering purchasing a DJI Mavic2 Zoom drone? Let me list its top eight strengths and three critical flaws. We all know the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom’s best feature: it has a zoom function.
It comes with a 2x optical zoom. 24 mm – 48 mm Furthermore, the camera is completely three-axis stabilized, resulting in stunning images.
Make recordings like never before, with the narrow cinema aesthetic that big-budget productions could only afford until now. So, before you seek an aerial inspection drone, let’s begin!
Bitrate
The DJI Mavic2 Zoom captures video at a bitrate of 100 Mbps. That’s a lot of data for such a tiny drone, but it’s precisely what ambitious filmmakers want in a camera. Obstacle avoidance sensors are omnidirectional on the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom, and they’re serious this time.
Two cameras face the front, two faces the rear, another camera on each side, and two cameras plus an infrared sensor are found at the bottom. To top it all off, DJI has now added an infrared top-facing sensor. Consider that. Protection in all directions!
Photo & Video Resolution
The DJI Mavic2 Zooms camera, like its predecessors, can only capture 12MP photographs. Its clever super-res mode, on the other hand, can produce 48MP images. Because it employs optical zoom, the end image resembles an actual picture rather than a wide-angle panorama.
The new DJI Mavic 2 Zoom has built to last! I made many attempts to persuade it to give up. But it didn’t work. Even when I deliberately crashed it (by turning off the object avoidance sensors and flew into a tree), it continued to operate and fly as if nothing had occurred. It is an absolute beast!
Hyperlapse Mode
The new hyper-lapse option produces beautiful images. Watch, enjoy, and make them yourself with only a few taps on your smartphone’s screen. The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom’s flying time has increased.
The maker says that it can stay in the air for 31 minutes, which I believe is a hoax. But, with an average flying length of about 26 minutes, the drone establishes a new benchmark. It’s important to remember how many sensors it powers. It’s pretty incredible.

Camera Not Swappable
The camera on the DJI Mavic2 Zooms is not detachable. Unfortunately, DJI introduced two new drones, and to benefit from both cameras, you must purchase both drones. You can also search for a commercial drone professional.
You can’t buy one plus a separate camera and then change them out if necessary, and that is unquestionably a significant disadvantage.
Color Depth
Sadly, the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom only records in 8-bit, not 10-bit, like the new DJI Mavic Pro 2, which includes an in-built Hasselblad camera (though without a zoom). Color grading enthusiasts may perceive this as a significant drawback.
If you must have 10 Bit, look at the Mavic Pro 2 drone. The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom’s sensor, a standard 1/2.3″ CMOS type, is tiny and might have been more significant. That would have been incredible given the quality of the recordings.
